Vermont

Okemo Mountain Resort- Ludlow, Vermont

Posted by Picasa
We decided to hit Vermont over the latter half of the kids February vacation, and after checking out the numerous options for skiing & other family fun, decided to head to Okemo, in Ludlow, Vermont. Okemo is amazing! Lots of family fun, with skiing, snow tubing, an ice skating rink...they had even built a huge igloo for kids to play in. So, that was the good part! The bad part about this trip is that Ethan got sick the night before we left, and stayed sick pretty much the entire time we were there. Poor guy, he couldn't hold anything down, so got very well acquainted with the hotel room. He did manage a few snow tubing runs our first afternoon there, but that seemed to do him in...it was all down hill after that. He was a trooper though, and made the most of it, enjoying some Olympic coverage & cartoon time in the hotel room. Lucas & Kathleen managed to hit the ice rink one morning, and Alex & Lucas got in an afternoon of skiing/snowboarding before we decided to head home early. We have to admit, we forced a sick child out of his warm bed to get the Vermont picture...hopefully we'll get another chance to visit Okemo!

New Hampshire

Diana's Bath - North Conway, New Hampshire

Columbus day weekend seemed like a great time to get out for a hike. We met up with Jamie, Caroline, Lilly, Rowan, and William for some indoor water park fun and a couple of great hikes into the woods.

Maine

Monhegan Island, Maine

Where else would we start off our 50 State adventure, but Monhegan Island, Maine. This was taken a day after Hurricane Bill passed by the island. The waves were amazing to see crashing into Lobster Cove and my sister Angela helped save someone who was swept out to sea.

Massachusetts

Cape Cod - Massachusetts

We managed to get away from Andover, Massachusetts with some friends from across the pond. We made it out to Brewster, Massachussetts. This picture was taken on board a boat that we took out to see the seals. Seals that, later that summer, were being eaten by great white sharks.

Mission Statement

In the Summer of 2009 the Iannicelli family made a commitment to each other that we would visit all 50 of the United states before Ethan, our oldest child, goes to College. We agreed that this would be a fun, educational adventure, and a great way to get the family out of the house and out of our home state of Massachusetts. After we all agreed that it sounded like a good idea we discussed the rules around our new adventure and decided on the following:
1) The entire (human) family must visit each state (i.e., pets do not have to make the trip!).
2) We must stay in each state overnight.
3) We must get proof that we visited each state. This is most likely a family picture, but could be some other proof.
We will used this blog to document our progress through all the states.
